THE MORNING AFTER DARK

When the good darkness is followed by a “Good Morning”, words are nothing less but fantastic. Inspired by Mario Benedetti’s “La buena tiniebla”.

The morning after dark

Born from darkness of unconscious spheres
where night obscured hidden desires,
eyelids weighted down by life's gravity,
vibrate open to echo tell-tale hearts.
In struggling might,
eternally brief concurrent worlds tow against one another,
clinging to their very existence at stake.
As reality emerges victorious over dreams,
the sensation of warmth pulls two bodies closer
like droplets of morning dew,
magnetically
irresistible,
merging into one love-coursed chimera.
Its own passion-laboured smell misting the dawning void;
Its own voice speaking through heavy sighs
taking flight from beyond mischievous smiles;
Its own name to what it shall be called upon.

The sunrise's novel kiss pales
against the sight, against the touch,
for the celestial body has lost its place
as brightest star.
