Shoes

They take you out for a fancy dinner
and to the grocery store when your wallet is thinner. 
They take you to travel countless miles
and to your workplace to drown in emails and files.
They take you dancing and drinking wine
and to administration offices forever waiting in line.
They take you to get fitter with sports
and to the hospital waiting for critical health reports.
They take you walking down the aisle
and to the lawyer’s office when for divorce you file.
They take you to the delivery room
and to bid the final goodbye at a loved one’s tomb.

Shoe Shoe Shoe Shoe -
some walking in circles,
some walking down a straight line.
I can walk in someone else’s
and someone else walking in mine.
Walking alone and walking with you.
